OIL Seals develops alternative to PTFE polyurethane seals

OIL Seals develops alternative to PTFE polyurethane seals

NINGBO BODI SEALS CO.,LTD    Sealing Technologies has developed a polyurethane-based alternative to traditional polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sealing materials,Such as  ptfe oil seal ,ptfe  oring ,  polyurethane orings,   polyurethane seal   .

BD SEALS  said on October 4 that the material “98 AU 30500″ is a “hydrolysis-resistant, high-performance polyurethane that provides improved performance in mobile hydraulic seal systems compared to traditional PTFE options.” In a statement, FST said the product has already “made a deep impression” on its first customers, all of whom are from the construction equipment industry.
Dr Jürgen Heber from FST said the PTFE material has high media resistance and a wide temperature range for hydraulic applications, as well as providing low friction and reliability.
“But our material 98 AU 30500 can really beat this because it is extremely resistant to wear and media,” adds the material development manager.
Thanks to an “optimized combination of materials and geometry,” seals made from 98 AU 30500 are said to have low friction and “very low clearance extrusion,” resulting in longer service life.
Heber added that in addition to “excellent frictional and sealing properties,” the seals can operate in a temperature range of -25 to +120 degrees.
It is also claimed that in the future, this material will provide “low friction and hydrodynamically optimized seal geometry, which was not previously possible.”
In terms of economic benefits, FST claims that longer life and reduced maintenance requirements will reduce operating costs for seal users.
The material is being used in construction equipment for the first time and is used in 17 standard sizes of OMK-PU 30500 piston seals.
The two-piece piston seal is injection-molded from hydrolysis-resistant, high-performance polyurethane in combination with an O-ring contact element.
The seal is said to be interchangeable with seals in standard ISO PTFE mounting spaces and does not require recalibration after installation.
The seal was developed primarily for mobile hydraulic applications in construction machinery in high humidity areas, but can also be used in industries such as the food and packaging industries.
Most importantly, BD SEALS  sees great growth potential in this material as it offers an alternative to fluoropolymers, which are currently the subject of a complete ban in Europe.
